Some people ask how we can leave family and home and go to another country. We tell them that we choose not to focus on our sacrifices, be they great or small. Rather, we focus on the face of Jesus, the One with the right to be proud and honored but who submitted himself to humiliation and torture, that His kingdom might be planted in our hearts. We go to help bring this Gospel to those who have yet to read the Good News in their own heart language.

“But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God,
and that by believing in him you will have life.” John 20:31

The Holy Spirit thought it important to inspire John to record some significant moments in the life of Jesus. If it’s important to write it, it’s important to translate it.

More than a million people in Peru are waiting to read it in their own language. WeI figure that our lives given for this cause are well spent.

Praise -&- Prayer

Praise God for nearly 100% financial support pledges.
Praise for Bill’s progress in obtaining US citizenship and also for the still missing “green card”.
Pray that the details of preparing for our international move to Peru will be filled with peace, and for a special time with Loris and Ondrej before we have to say our good-byes.
Pray that Bill gets his Peruvian visa to work in Peru before we are supposed to travel. If it is delayed Sally and the children will travel ahead of him while he waits for the visa. Besides the challenge of traveling separately, it would require additional expense in changing the airline ticket.
Pray for us as we begin the process of establishing a new home in Lima. We will need to find a place to rent, move our things from the jungle to Lima, find a vehicle, and begin the orientation to our new responsibilities. It's not a transition period we look forward to, except that we know it will be a time for God to demonstrate his faithfulness in meeting our needs.
Pray for the remaining language groups in Peru that are still waiting for their version of God's Word.

On the home front

After dragging 12 suitcases off the airplane and piling into the van to come to the JAARS Center we wondered what our next phase of life would be like. Would Ondrej and Loris find a job, a school? Would they make the adjustments easily? What about Jonathan and Laura—home schooling, public school, private Christian school? Where would we live? And where would we leave our children when it would be time to return to Peru?

As we look back over the past 2 years we have seen all our furlough goals and needs met.

Ondrej graduated from North Star Academy, an internet High School.
Loris and Ondrej both went to YWAM's discipleship training program and served on short-term overseas assignments.
Loris found a job, first at Dairy Queen and then as a secretary in the emergency room of a nearby hospital.
Loris started a nursing program at the University of South Carolina in Lancaster.
Ondrej has been accepted at York Technical College to study automotive technology. He has taken CLEP exams to get college credits toward his program.
Ondrej is working at the JAARS Center in the auto shop, learning a great variety of mechanics skills and really enjoying it.
Loris and Ondrej got their drivers license and have fairly reliable cars. And with Ondrej's mechanics experience we are leaving them in good hands.
Sally successfully home schooled Jonathan and Laura, and has mapped out the rest of their curriculum until they graduate.
We built a house, a home for Loris and Ondrej, and a place to come back to.
We reported to our supporting churches and friends and are packing, ready to return to Peru. Our support level is near 100%. We are waiting for Peru visas.

God has show himself faithful to us in the past. We will trust Him for our future.
