Hi, I’m Sally.
I grew up in Akron, Ohio. After high school I got an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science and worked as a church secretary. Church attendance was a regular part of my life. And it wasn’t too much of a surprise when I announced that I was planning on going on a short term mission with Operation Mobilization for the summer.
That experience helped direct me to a career in missions. I went to Moody Bible Institute to gain more Bible knowledge. I met and later married Bill. I liked his direction and motivation to be a missionary. And together we have pursued God’s call to missions all the way to Peru.
Studying linguistics full time while caring for two small children was challenging. Home schooling two small children with two toddlers in an Indian village was impossible. But somehow God uses the weak things to do great things.
We look back at our family life in the Amazon and give thanks to God for allowing us to follow this path. Jesus said his yoke would be easy and his burden light. What we found that to mean is that He is sufficient for all our needs, all our struggles, resting in His promises to provide peace and joy and the fulfilled life.
My primary role was to coordinate the home activities which include being principal and teacher of our home school. Now that our children have all graduated from high school, I am pursuing a new career as an assistant in the Americas Area personnel department. I look forward to helping our Wycliffe members be effective in contributing to the work of Bible translation.
